This coming weekend TCR Europe will kick-off its 2019 season on the Hungaroring, in Budapest. As recently announced DG Sport Compétition will be present with a Peugeot 308 TCR in the hands of the fast Frenchman Aurélien Comte. Following a campaign at a world level in 2018 with the same car and same driver, the Theux based team will be tackling this new continental challenge with a definite enthusiasm …
“We received this new car, with all its 2019 evolutions, a fortnight ago, and since then we have carried out one test at Circuit Zolder and two at Francorchamps, Lionel Hansen, DG Sport Compétition’s Technical Director confirmed. The aim was to allow Aurélien to build up kilometres while at the same time working on the set-up for short runs, of the qualifying type, as also on the longer runs with a view to the races. Everyone is fully aware of the problematics of the Hungaroring: it’s a circuit where overtaking is extremely difficult, hence the importance of producing a good performance level as from the qualifying sessions. Taking into account the system of the reversed grid one needs to aim at being in the top 10. We know the Peugeot 308 TCR well, Aurélien Comte is capable is pulling out all the stops over one lap against the clock, for sure. Admittedly the Balance de Performance still represents an enigma, but all the dials are on green … “
If on the one hand the Peugeot machines will be rather numerous this season in TCR Europe, the DG Sport Compétition 308 will definitely not go unnoticed, proudly bearing the colours of HEROCK and PROTECTION UNIT, partners of this operation at a continental level …
“Since the creation of the HEROCK make, some 10 years ago already, we have supported DG Sport’s sporting programmes with a view to not only developing our notoriety, but also to invite our clients to the various competitions, Laurent Van Laere, the CEO of HEROCK commented. Be it in the field of motorbikes, in rallies or circuit racing, we have gleaned some great successes with DG Sport. This involvement in TCR Europe is therefore in line with our international development, focussing on such important markets as Germany and France. In addition, TCR Europe benefits from excellent media and televised coverage, which represents excellent opportunities for us … »
“Back in 2017 we had already supported the Peugeot 308 entered by DG Sport and became European champion with a certain Aurélien Comte, Samuel Di Giovanni, CEO of PROTECTION UNIT added. It’s therefore in the hope of an identical outcome that we will be tackling 2019. Company specialised in security, PROTECTION UNIT covers the entirety of Belgium thanks to its 500 agents, who are all fully-fledged supporters of our favourite lioness!”
Indisputably riding on a high, TCR Europe will be able to count on major media coverage this season. Each race can be followed live via the championship’s official internet site (www.europe.tcr-series.com), but also on AUVIO, the RTBF’s digital platform. RTBF will also be offering reports on TCR Europe in its Auto Mobile and Auto Sport programmes, the latter being broadcast immediately after the various Grand Prix of Formula 1 and MotoGP!
In a nutshell, this coming weekend the Peugeot 308 TCR DG Sport Compétition #7 will be in the spotlight….all to the good!
