Notwithstanding everything, a well-managed race for Guillaume de Mévius in Corsica

 

The DG Sport Compétition competed in the Tour de Corse 2019 with a new Citroën C3 R5 in the hands of the duo Guillaume de Mévius and Martijn Wydaeghe, bearing the colours of the RACB National Team. The duo concluded this return to the WRC2 with a solid 7th place … notwithstanding two punctures and the car not offering its true potential as from the beginning of the weekend! As such worth noting a well-managed race for a tandem of young lions who were able to make the best of a bad job, chasing good stage times on a course that driver and co-driver were discovering …

“In fact, what people do not know, is that Guillaume and Martijn were confronted as from the second special stage, namely on Friday morning, with a lack of power, Alain Georges, Team-Manager of DG Sport Compétition confirmed. The car was new. If one takes into account this major issue, we can consider our team’s performance to be absolutely satisfying, and if one compares it to the other drivers who were also competing in Corsica for the first time. The entire team is sorry for Guillaume and Martijn, who were able to remain defiant of this power loss and produce a constant and sturdy management of the race.”

At the end of this Tour de Corse compensated with an excellent token place in WRC2, all honour to the team taking into account the circumstances. Guillaume de Mévius and Martijn Wydaeghe will now be preparing their following WRC2 participation, namely the Rally of Portugal, characterised by a radical change of road surface, seeing this time around gravel will be on the programme …
